Case Study:
Willand Engineering was brought in to modify and extend an existing beef packing line conveyor and operator handling area — increasing capacity while integrating seamlessly with the existing production equipment.
Survey, Design & Planning
The project started with a full site survey of the existing conveyor, platforms and discharge points. CAD drawings were then produced to design the modifications and confirm how everything would interface with the existing line.
Because the installation had to be completed within a strict two day weekend shutdown, a second site visit was carried out before fabrication was finalised. Re-checking critical dimensions, confirming heights and alignment, verifying access clearances and making sure every fabricated component could be installed as planned. With no room for redesign once the weekend started, this additional check was essential.
Scope of Works
Extension of the existing conveyor, two new product discharge points, new stainless steel discharge chutes, relocation of operator access steps and platform, new stainless steel framework and supports, and full integration with the existing production equipment.
The Result
Installation completed within the two-day window. The finished modification delivered two additional discharge positions, an extended conveyor, improved product handling layout and full integration with the existing line, without replacing it.
